Flashing brake lights was created by conpewter
I saw an interesting and useful thing the other day. I think it was on a newer Harley.
Anyway whenever she applied the brake it would flash the brake lights a few times before going solid red. It was not something she was doing herself, and we all know this is a good way to catch someone's eye that you are stopping.
Do you all know of an aftermarket part that can be put in line with the brake lines that would do this? I wouldn't mind having that on my bike (also thinking of going to LED brake lights, are those brighter?)

Its a control mod you buy that goes in between the supply voltage to the brake light and the light itself. I was thinking of doing it by putting a flasher elay there but I want it to stop flashing sometime.

Led lights brighter? Are you really asking a question? lol Sorry, yeah they are brighter and have better visibility than common bulbs.

here's a good example:

you could also probably build your own with 2 555 timers or a 556 chip.

I find LED tail lights are not as bright as 1157 bulbs when you are looking at them off axis. I takes a lot of them in order to compensate for viewing angles.

LED lights have a very narrow field of view and if the bulbs you buy have all the LED's facing in one direction they will seem dim when looking at them from an angle. I use the "tower" type bulbs sold by this company:
www.superlumination.com/
You should also make sure you are getting full voltage to the bulb for maximum brightness.
I have an auxillary brake light mounted to the top of the trunk on my bike. It is hooked to a brake light modulator I found new on ebay for less than $20. If I can find the brand name I'll pass it on if anyone is interested. I think they are very effective and have gotten comments from cagers about it catching there attention.

Cool. That work light they have looks interesting. There's nothing more frustrating than being under the car when you bump the worklight and the bulb goes out.
