Reg/Rec Parts was created by jayfromjay
So i poked and prodded the ol' girl, cleaned all the connections, took the side cover off to check the generator and all looked good. a couple of the magnets were worn more than others, but the ohms test said all was good so I'm figurin the regulator/rectifier is the bugger in my charging woes. Anybody got a good source for this? The bike shops up here all said the same thing, "good luck, been out of production for awhile".
Any leads would be great. Thanks all!

You can either scour eBay and hope a good used or NOS part shows up, or just purchase a new one from Z1 Enterprises:

Rectifier / Regulator combination unit
RI10-515

or:
Rectifier/Regulator Combination Unit KZ1000 KZ900
PM81-4081

Although it shows that both part numbers will fit your year and model bike, I'd suggest contacting them to see which one they'd recommend. ;)

I was a little late and now Z1 is out of stock on the PM81-4081. Does anybody know if the PM41-4080 will work? Thanks.

I just checked oregonmotorcycleparts.com/vregulators.html , to see if Tony added any regulators for permanent-magnet alternators. It doesn't look like it, yet. That means they won't work on the Z1.

I sent him a design for a regulator for permanent-magnet alternators last year, but he was having a hard time finding parts at a reasonable price.

They should be back in stock tomorrow - our latest shipment has cleared customs and is on it's way from JFK to here.
