Will a 78 speedo fit my 80? was created by sbodi4d
I have a 1980 KZ1000-E2 and the speedo only goes up to 80, and that is just not gonna cut it. I found one on ebay for a 1978 KZ1000/LTD will it work?
Thanks in advance.

this link says that the 73 to 80 gauges can be swapped, except for the Z1R:

321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

The ST uses a different speedometer and tach than a regular KZ1000. A 1978 may work, but it won't get close to matching the original looks. I suggest waiting and getting a 1979 KZ1000E speedo that reads to 160mph. Should come up on ebay soon.

It's hard to tell by the picture if you don't have a ST speedo next to the 1978 KZ1000LTD speedo, but take my word for it that it will not work on your bike. Completely different size and shape than your ST I'm afraid.
