Hi all.
my 1978kz650 B US import to the U.K. has a vacuum peacock which I would like to change to a straight on off and isolate the vac pipe, can anyone recommend a supplier of a tap that would fit the 45 mm bolt spacing , or what model bike would have one that will fit
thanks

The bolt spacing should be 44 mm.
Alternative Petcooks
46 mm spacing: holes can elonguate 1 mm each = 44 mm

I have had Pingel manual petcocks on a few KZ650's, they sell a adapter plate for the 44mm bolt pattern, its has a 3/8NPT thread. If you go on there web site you can find the part numbers for the petcock (plain or polished aluminum) and adapter. These are top quality, rebuildable, have the finest handle action, and are made in the USA.

I too, am a fan of the Pingel petcocks. My bike has a dual feed and Mrs' slayer has a single feed on hers. The only drawback is they're not "intuitive". After many years of riding with a "standard" valve, you get accustomed to the hand movement going to the reserve position. The Pingel moves horizontally, not vertically. I put a small sticker on mine to remind me...
Look close... you can see it right above the valve
