Racing locations in Indiana was created by godsturd
I'm located in Indiana about an hour north of Indianapolis and I'm looking for any place to learn to ride a track. Every search I do sends me to dirt tracks or raceways for cars. I'm also not looking to spend a bunch of money on a membership, as I've seen some that cost a couple grand a year. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks guys!

I went to Putnam Park in August for a Sportbike Track Time event on my Gsxr. Very organized and a great experience. I plan on going back again at some point this year.

Yes, Putnam Park. I would love to get a dedicated track day bike. If I don't then will get the ZRX back out for a fun run.

There is Autobahn Country Club in Joliet, Illinois. Its a private road race club. Its like right across the street from the Chicagoland NASCAR roundy round track. Its a FIRST RATE race track. The best of everything.

Now if you want to race on one of the most challenging road race tracks in the country. You have to go to Grattan Raceway in Michigan!!!! This little track has every type of corner you can think of!!!! I raced there many a time when I lived in the Chicagoland area. The elevation changes per lap are unbelievable. You have a blind downhill off camber decreasing radius corner followed by a uphill banked increasing radius corner. And thats only two of the tracks corners. Its the most fun track I have ever raced on!!! The owners are the greatest people in the world too!!! I have been to many track days there plus years of racing WERA there. The two tracks I miss the most are Grattan and Road America.

Yes, the Autobahn C.C. I have done a track day there. Gratten, I have heard of and thanks for the intel. Also, have been to Road America in Elkhart Lake, WI on a few occassions as a spectator only. A long track that I have always wanted to get out on! Good Stuff Dr.

Thanks for all the info guys! I've never raced before, just trying to get started somewhere so I'll probably just stick with the Putnam track for now. Hopefully I can get my bike ready for the track this summer.

Do you know of any videos or websites that can give me some beginners knowledge on racing?
I've never stepped on a track before but am very interested in getting started asap. Anything would help.

Get Twist Of The Wrist by Keith Code.

It will give you the basic knowledge of motorcycle road racing.

He taught Wayne Rainey how to road race and he became a 500cc World Champion!!!

Too bad his Superbike school don't come to the midwest anymore. You got to ride their bikes on some great tracks.

Is there any specifications for the bikes that can be used? I'm going to get my bike (77 kz650c) worked on next month and hopefully get it ready for the track as well as being my daily ride around bike. Is this a good idea.
