2nd race update

A few days after coming back from the first race in Rome I had to be hospitalized with a case of a very painful kidney stone. Things got complicated as it got stuck and there was a fear I’d need an operation. Luckily, I managed to pee it out after a week (ouch) and Thursday before the race weekend doctor gave me the ok.
Anyway, bike is really working now, slashed one second off my best time in Varano in first qualifying. In second qualifying session, even with a hotter track that usually means slower times, still managed to shave a few tenths was in a mid position in the mixed classes grid.
Sunday, race was kind of early but I was really worked up…. enough to kill the engine at the drop for the flag! Damn, damn, damn! A marshal bump started me ASAP but I was so mad at myself that I switched my brain off and started reeling off faster than ever laps, catching up to third place in my category, maybe could have been second if I didn’t lost 10-15 seconds killing the motor….
Well, there’s always next time,
Some things to sort out till next race in May: while pushing my braking points farther than before I started to get quite a lot of front wheel chatter/hop. Need to think what changes to do to the fork to eliminate the problem or maybe bite the bullet and drop in modern R6 cartridge dampers that been waiting or even upgrade the whole fork to a 38mm form a Gpz600, 38mm being the max diameter acceptable in our vintage class.

But last year I wasn’t really happy with how the 750/810 was working on the track and I had this occasion to pick this pristine 550 for 200$, so thought at the time that if I don’t get on with the 750 I’ll switch.
When the 550 stands next to the 750 it’s pretty amazing how much lower, smaller and nimbler it looks and feels. A 90rwhp/160 kilograms 750/810 versus a 75 rwhp/140 kilograms 550/600? Not quite sure what will go faster around a track, especially since very few of our tracks could be called "horsepower tracks", most of them are kind of technical.
And besides, I simply enjoy building these things....

And who'd have thunk that a ridding one's self of a kidney stone was worth a full second in lap time  That SOB must have been HUGE
Keep up the good work, you're doing a fine job!

these are not street tires.... they are race compound, track only tires, not DOT legal, just with street tire thread design
in most classes of vintage racing in the world, slicks are not allowed, and actually not being even made for 18" rims nowadays.
AHRMA allows 17" in some vintage classes but even there slicks are not allowed to keep costs in check
