RS, 56 rwhp is nice, definitely not all you can have from a 650... how much compression ratio are you running?

not to boast, but I've been up to 61 rwhp from my 500c.c. CB500/4 but it is really crazily tuned with a 13:1 CR, all the rest.

DD - i am not aware of AM18 in race compound, so it its road tires, wouldnt even consider them.... thats one area NOT to skimp on,

best combo is the AM23 130/650-18 cantilever, it can work on the stock rim too, and the AM22 front, both in race compound.

they are pricey, so if you are really strung, bridgestone BT45, the rear is a softer compound at the edges :)

last, i'd leave the 6 speed alone for now, specially if you are not wildly tuning, your motor should be flexible enough. that CB500/4 of mine is quite peaky and i managed fine with the stock 5 spds. save your money for plenty of final drive sprockets, thats what counts most.

The AM18's are a race tire: www.avonmoto.com/products/non-dot-race-tires

They come in the 100/90-19 and 120/80-18 which should fit the stock rim. The AM22 doesn't appear to have a 19" front tire.

I was planning to get every front sprocket that fit and a couple different rears. That and the race tires were areas I expected to spend. Will be switching to 530 chain as well.

Maybe what you are saying is that you don't have a choice on the compound type? Guess I'm not familiar enough. Having a hard time finding a vendor who does the race Avons who I could talk to. Would be nice.

I'm also not sure what makes the AM23 cantilevered?

"Cantilever Sidewall

The Cantilever sidewall is very stiff and helps support the tread. This allows us to use a tread face which is as wide or wider than the rim size. This type of tire is best suited for cars with Rim width restrictions. EX: We are limited to a 15 x 7 inch rim. The 23.0 X 9.5-15 Hoosier Road Race tire has a tread width of 9.2". We would not normally be able to put 9.2 inches of tread on a 7 inch wide rim. Note: This does not come without a cost, usually the section width of a cantilever sidewall tire is larger than non-cantilever tires. Also, the transient response of the cantilever tire is less than non-cantilever tires (provided the non-cantilever tire is on the proper rim)."

well, saw it now, guess the reason i didnt know about the am18 is that in five years of vintage racing, never saw anybody using it.... go guess why :)

and I wouldnt run a 120 rear on a bike as heavy as a 650 anyway.

seriously, go for the AM23 130/650....

regarding the front, swapping the 19" rim for an 18" would be VERY high on my to do list. lighter, lower front heigh = steeper steering angle, less gyro effect, WAY more tire choice...

not sure the info you found really applies to bikes, read about them here

76 KZ, frame gusset work,1200CC.Ported by Larry Cavanaugh, 1.5mm.over intakes, Carron Pipe, ZRX12 rear end, and seat,96zx9 front end.

I'm surprised they let you run a boxed swing arm. I've seen it debated elsewhere on what the rules mean and it sounded like tubular steel or a period correct boxed arm were the only options (I.e. A cal-fab period piece or replica). Have you gotten any flak for it? Those wheels look nice, kind of like the Dyman period wheels..

I don't have alot of money so I go with what I have or find on ebay.Everything is kawasaki but the pipe.zx6e forks,frt rotors,85vn700 master cyl.and calipers.We can only run 2 piston calipers.zephyr swingarm.750 gpz cams,kz750 head early has mech.tach drive kz750 exhaust cam.stock bottom end.29mm carbs.Will be going back to 650 head with 750 valves.kz750n igniton electric tach.This bike runs good just needs a little more go fast.The class I run in can be very competitive!
