Hey Joe, I ordered Everlasts' 250 amp inverter tig welder (see link in an earlier post). They told me today that they hoped to ship mine out tomorrow. Here's hopin' Work has kept me too busy to go to the steel supply yard and pick up some materials for a new cart, but that will be my first tig project: an all in one cart for the mig, tig and plasma. From what I've read and watched, it looks alot like oxy/acetelyne welding, but with an electric current. It will be an interesting learning curve. On an unrelated note, I got a killer deal on 7 yards of carbon cloth today- $18 a yard! Thats dirt ass cheap for carbon :woohoo:

The downside is the small amount of slag build up along the bottom of the cut, but I might just need to bump up the air pressure a bit.

try experimenting with the angle... how you hold the gun..
in a side view, the lines of your cuts should be on an angle.. as to blow the dross away as you cut. or you may be going too slow.

lots of good 'free' info here from hypertherm.

I am eager to see the results of your new welder. I have been eyeing those for a while now. Not too much credible info on the net as for reviews.

We have a really nice Miller Syncrowave 350 with the cooler at work. We don't employ a full-time welder any more, and it won't power up. The thing just sits there b/c nobody knows what's wrong with it. I'm secretly hoping that I can catch the boss in a weak moment and snap it up for under a grand some day. I'm sure it can be fixed. I just have to figure out where to put that monster in my garage. Supposedly he let a clapped out Bridgeport go for $500. I figure the welder is probably worth about the same to him.

Ya I would jump on it for $500.00 I paid $5,200.00 for my 250dx a few years ago, so even if you spent $1000.00 on a new board your way ahead of the game.
