You could certainly buy a buch of mandrel bends and cobble together an exhaust. I was shooting for a single tube for the primaries, but if I have too much trouble with the bends at the bottom of the front cradle then I'll look at that option. But in all honesty, if I can't make the primary tubes 1 piece, then I should just go buy a header that will work. I'm sure otakar will give me the same advice- just go buy a header! But where's the fun in that?

I agree with you there, I've seen primaries that are pieced together and it's never really looked right to me. I think it can be made to look good past the collector though. I hope you figure it out. Thanks for this thread by the way I've been looking at similar rollers. Have you worked out what radius is desirable from the ports to the collector? Tri-Y is not much harder to assemble than a 4-1, but does add length to the collector assy so you'd be running out of real estate fast with your monoshock. I spent some time trying to figure out which primaries to connect in a 4-2-1 for max scavenging and can't remember right now, I'll have to see if I can find the info.

That's about right, Cone is a few dollars cheaper but close. Burns stainless thinks their shit's made of gold, $106 for 2.5" U bend.

Anybody got a picture of a KZ inline with a true Tri-Y? Please post it.
I believe you bring the 2 tubes together as meeting with the opposite in the firing order so that tube would be the most empty of exhaust. Might be hard with the frame rails. Makes a huge difference to mid range power over 4-1 headers, but not top end.

This very purdy titanium header is a tri y pairing 1/2 and 3/4

I havent worked out the radius needed yet, I'm still exploring the capabilities of the machine. Though it's looking like the initial port exit is going to need to be as tight as this roller can make, flattening out a bit then tighting up again below the cradle. Probably not too different than your primaries Dutch.
Yeah, Burns thinks we should pay ti prices for stainless

Hows the ground clearance on that system? I can see smashing it just trying to get back in the driveway here with the type of curbing used by the city. Sure is pretty, bet it makes lots of mid punch.

Porche that exhaust is mighty sweet...;)

About the cheapest I could find so far for mandrel bends, 4-1 collectors etc.. is Cone Engineering.... Not sure of the quality...

Motor head, I've got no idea about the ground clearance on that ti header. There may be a member around here that has sprung for something like it, but I've got less $$ in my build, single sided swingarm and all than the cost of that header  WAY too rich for my bank account!

I took the 1" rolled tubing and cut it down so that I could continue rolling it. I kept cranking on it until I couldn't go any further

Its a real science the exhaust, much effort to beat most production systems as they will do much R&D to get a product to market. I would have expected a different distance between the mergings in that system, not much between the first and second or the second to 3rd. Take a look at some of the automotive makers and you will see what I mean. I have only built 1 for a Isuzu Diesel I had 4.3 SOHC no turbo. Followed another that I had bought for a Toyota motor, and bought some mandrel bends to help fab it.

The ultimate, tightest bend I could achieve was a 5" radius
