If you have a MIG welder you could run off some wire from that

I just use safety wire.

Appreciate all the recommendations, managed to use the existing site with the new ceramic insulation. Didn't get any pics cause I was wearing gloves and didn't want to take them off, etc. but got it all back in place but was raining at that point so I'll be giving a go tomorrow to see how much it's helped. Also struggled like hell getting a new headlight installed but hopefully they both work as intended when I get a few miles in with them.

Ok, got out a little earlier bike sounded just about as loud as before, but the sound was maybe a little 'cleaner' if that makes sense. Still not really what I was after so I'll have to look into something different to tame the noise a bit more.
