Spark plugs was created by Andyp62
Hi all
With much help on here from you guys I got my 1978 z650 running ok, the only thing is it seems to be going through spark plugs like it thinks it’s a H2, it is a US import 650, 1978 with new coils and 5 ohm ngk suppressor caps and a new Boyer bransden micro digital system, the current plugs are ngk B8ES.
thanks

What is going on with the plugs? Are the electrodes melting? Oil fouled? Fuel fouled?

In addition to TexasKZ's questions your using too cold plugs. You should be using b7es or better still denso w22es.
Kawasaki revised 650 recommended plugs from b8 to b7 as on road testing b8's were found to be too cool and kept fouling. (sound familiar?).

Yes, try using ND W22ES-U plugs and I suspect the problem will be gone.  Ed

Post a pic of the plugs please, and also check the coil voltage, with the electronic ign it will need all the volts it can get. mine was loosing 1.8V by the time it went through all the wires so ran the coils from big wires via a relay. Mod on here

Keep us informed

If those plugs are dry, then the correct heat range may help. That could also be the result of weak spark or a very rich mixture.
If they are wet, then I would suspect valve stem seals, or some other oil-related problem.
