CLUTCH COVER KZ440 OIL SEAL REMOVAL

I 've recently had the clutch cover off my bike to investigate a slipping issue which I've managed to fix with new plates and springs. However the oil seal on the cover behind the advance and retard unit has begun to leak. I've sources a new seal but what's the best way to remove the old seal without damaging the housing please? The clutch cover gasket has been replaced-the oil leak is coming out of the points cover-well I say points but the bike is an electronic ignition model.

The easiest way is to pull the cover and drive the seal out.

Well I tried that but I was worried about hitting it too hard and damaging the housing.
After looking at Youtube I drilled a small hole in the seal and tried to pull the seal out using a spring puller.
There wasn't enough "meat" on the part of the seal away from the housing to drive a nail or screw a screw into.
I bottled it and took it to my local bike shop who sorted it out "for a drink". Not sure what they did but it's all back together now and no clutch slip or oil leaks from the covers.Phew......
