If it's coming from your ignition cover, there is two possible sources for oil:
1) The oil pressure sender is possibly loose from the case (bottom of the space, just behind the ignition plate
2) The engine seal behind the timing advance plate is leaking.

On my 750 twin, I never had a leak on the points cover until I had to replace my clutch. I did not put in a new seal on it when I put it back together because it looked fine and it had never leaked....

then I had a leak out the points cover coming past the seal.

Sorry to bring up such and old thread.  I've got the same problem on an 81 kz440b.  The oil seal is trash.  The book looks like it calls for a 40 25 7 oil seal.  That is what was in it.  Does anyone have any advice on how to change this seal?  The outer lip behind the timing plate is 28mm.  The oil seal will obviously not go over the 28mm lip to the 25mm shaft.  Could this seal on the 28mm lip?

Part# 92050-065 is the correct seal with ID 25 x OD 40 x HIGH 7 mm
The outer 28 mm diameter lip is a part of the seal that contains a metal spring that give and support the 25 mm diameter sealing lip some more pre tention to the crankshaft shaft.

Thanks for the reply.
I have the new seal ordered.  The previous seal I aquired was not OEM, maybe built a little different.  But I could not get the seal over the 28mm lip.  This is directly behind the timing plate.  The problem is trying not to tear the seal while installing it. Any tips on getting the seal over the lip?  In this pic, the left arrow is the 28mm lip and the right arrow is the 25mm shaft.

Thin playable plastic. Milk jug plastic is a good example, but anything similar will work cut a strip and size it to wrap around the shaft without overlap tape the seam use oil and slid the new seal over and into place.

I may be mistaken, but the 28mm diameter sleeve(?) shouldn't be there based on images of KZ440 crank listing images posted on Ebay.
Could it be part of the advance mechanism that became seized on the shaft, and needs to be removed?

Daveo is right! Looks like the advancer collar ring is stuck on crank shaft end.
As i said, a picture say more than 1000 words.

Thanks for the help.  This indeed was an alignment collar that was stuck on the shaft.  I used a small puller and tapped it right off.  Now the oil seal will go right on.  Thanks so much for the knowledge share.

It looks like there is some significant pitting on the shaft. It would be a good idea to hit that with some sandpaper to knock the high spots and sharp edges down so the new seal will not get damaged during installation.
I would also carefully inspect the inside of the collar for corresponding damage and clean up as needed.
