Well 7 of the 8 studs where fooked. It was obvious they where cross threaded at some point and 5 of them where bent. I got them all out without much hassle. I also discovered they were 0 exhaust gaskets installed so that would help explain the leaking header. I have new studs and gaskets in route so hopefully that will seal up the leak in the front.

RRRR - if I decide to sell the RC I'll let you know.

I got to see Russ Collins race that triple-engined Honda back in the 70s. Man what a brute that thing was!
It seems it wasn't but a couple of weeks after I saw him race here in Memphis that he crashed on the same bike at another track. It almost killed him. That's probably when he quit drag racing.

Thanks for all the info.

After further inspection last night the RC headers are bent and one pipe has a dent. Since 4 of the exhaust studs were bent I'm thinking the bike had an accident and the tire or something hit the exhaust. Looks like the RC exhaust will be going to the grave. :(

Nope Collins didn't quit when the Archison,Topeka & Santa Fe spit him off, he had that bike made into a coffee table and built the double engine V8 Honda above.

And Collins didn't quit the bike biz when Terry & Byron went out on their own,he kept racing bikes and doing the RC thing for a few more years.Bob Carpenter rode the ProStock Zuk he built after Vance & Hines split.

Last I heard he was doing TF car stuff with Bill Miller in Ca.

R.C. Engineering. Was the 1st! with Honda 750 SOHC parts. Then quickly adapted to the Z1, rest was history.650's never ran Pro-Stock, of course they made some parts for the smaller Kaws. When Russ crashed the triple Sorcerer. The NHRA stopped triple engine drag bikes, down to 2. Like the Harleys ran. but when the modern Kaw Nitro 4 cylinders started. with the lighter weight. That was history.Today! Russ Collins Jr. has been rebuilding the "Sorcerer" To exact specs! It is almost done!I hope they do some mild exhibition runs with it!!!Plenty of info online about it!Those old single cam 750 engines on Nitro sounded way better that the Kaws!I drooled and dreamed over that RC catalog when I bought my 1st. Z1 in 1977.I  scored an old stock black pipe about 4 years ago that I put on an 1197, Web Cam, Lectron carb drag bike I sold 2 years ago.Sucks getting old and not collecting anymore!
