Fuel leaks... I think I've got it!

For the past little while now, I've been dealing with a small puddle of fuel forming under the bike when it sits for any extended length of time. I've narrowed the problem down to a leaky petcock (the manual kind) and I ordered the rebuild kit. Will these 4 new o-rings/gaskets stop the petcock from letting fuel through when it's off? I'm hoping this will solve it and I don't need to buy a whole new petcock.

I already have the rebuild kit. I was thinking about a pingel valve, but I need to have the reserve feature.

Thanks JR, the worst is when it gets on hot chrome. It turns into the worst gunk to clean off.

Are you sure your petcock is leaking? Where is the fuel leaking from? The petcock on my bike doesn't leak yet I get a small puddle from my overflow tubes when I park the bike overnight.

It's from being tipped on the sidestand. Try parking it on the centerstand and see if your leak goes away.

Also, you mention it dripping on your chrome parts, are you using overflow hoses that route from your carb back over your swingarm? If not, you should consider it.

I thought of it being tipped being the reason for the leak through the overflow tubes, but the bowls will re-fill overnight after I drain them. I'd try parking it on the centerstand, but I don't seem to have one.

The overflow tubes are routed the way they should be, it'll sometimes leak on the starter motor plate through the left intake manifold if I forget to turn the fuel off. :dry: Those are getting replaced when I rebuild the carbs over the winter anyways, so I'm not too worried about that mess for now. One problem at a time.

Wait a minute...is it dripping from a leak in the rubber manifold or out the carburetor venturi?

It drools a tiny bit from where the carb bolts on to the manifold. It only did this once when I left the fuel on.
