I am stealing the following thread idea from another forum. As the saying goes, "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery". Just as the I ripped off title states, take a ride and snap a photo of your KZ with something military related as part of the picture. It can be a piece of weaponry, monument, base, soldier, etc, ....

I had to take the KZ out today as part of my shake down runs I'm doing before next week's DGR. So figured I would make it a bit more interesting and get some nice pictures while I'm at it. I am submitting the first entry of a local piece of artillery displayed at the VFW building near town. Please feel free to post your own pictures with your bike.

Your on Joe, we pass that kind of stuff all the time.
Just about every little town out here in the sticks has something.
Here's an old shot for starters

Nice Jack! Is that a Cobra gunship? Oddly enough, in Central Florida, the two VFW's in our area are one of the few VFW's to display military hardware. As you said, I thought all these small towns around here would have VFW's having a military vehicle or two. There is one special place close to here that I will take a ride to in the near future for this series. Jack, please do post anything else you got. Love seeing these old war equipment used to honor the peace and also the men and women who fought for our country.

Looks like a trip to Palm Springs AP for me. Lots of vintage war jets and if lucky a B 17. Pics to come. B)

I believe it is a Huey Python 2 seater use in Vietnam

We passed a couple tanks yesterday and a missile that a high school had, I can't remember the town right now but their team was the something missiles?

We saw this plane fly about 20 years ago during an attempt to hook up 300 skydivers , it was one of 12 planes being used in the effort.
They ended up having to settle for something like 283 and that record was broke a year later in Taiwan for the kings birthday.

Very nice Steve! Beautiful area and aircraft. Last picture doesn't count, your KZ has to be in the picture, LOL. Great picture too Jack! Looks like you practically were underneath the airframe. Here are a couple more pictures of another local relic:

Saturday we rode up to Dixon IL home of Ronnie Reagan and followed the Rock river down to the Mississippi river.
I was sure that I would see some hardware in some of the small towns we passed through but nothing until we got to the big river town of
Port Byron IL
A 105 mm Howitzer made in 1945 just down river at the Rock Island Armory

And down at the other end of town was a 3" model 1861 (Griffin Gun) made in 1862 for the Union army

We followed the Mississippi down and in Hamton IL we found a monument to the battle fought near Cambells Island
In 1814 between aprox. 500 British backed Sauk warriors and an American flotilla including 3 gun boats carrying supplies up river to Fort Shelby.
The Indians turned them back.

Today we found this 1846 gun in a town named Tonica

And in Henry a torpedo dedicated to the 3505 men on the 52 submarines of WWII still on patrol

Love the shot of the bike with the torpedo JD. The bike looks great! Good stuff. Don't understand why we don't have as much around here. But there is a huge cemetery close to here. Will do my next country ride through that area. Place is huge.
