Steve Harris has Passed was created by Wookie58
I have just seen that Steve Harris of "Harris Performance" has passed earlier this month. I met Steve in the late 90's at the Birmingham bike show, although at that time Harris were running a GP team and the stand was really busy Steve took the time to talk to me about my planned mods to my Magnum 2 frame. We scratched out drawings on a scrap of paper and he gave me the benefit of his knowledge for at least 20 minutes while the ques built at his stand. The man was truly what we in the UK would call "a proper bloke"

I used to keep it in my mates unit as I didn't have anywhere at home to keep it (couldn't street park it in Birmingham !) when he gave up his unit I had nowhere to keep it and didn't have time to use it. I was recently married with a couple of kids and the money was more use to me so it had to go
I would never have had the bottle to cut it in half without the guidance I got from Steve Harris

Well he is the kinda legend in streetfighter world that wont soon be forgotten. Yea selling a bike like that always seems like the right thing to do at the time, before i emigrated to Canada many moons ago i sold my Z1000 a2, guy who bought it converted it to a trike after a back injury, he still rides it, yours is definitely out there somewhere.

I'm guessing "proper blokes" are rare in the uk as they are in usa.

Sadly that is the case, with so many as long as you are spending money they are happy to give you their time. When I met Steve he was running the Shell 500GP team and was at the show selling "Harris" products. I wasn't spending money and was talking to him about a frame kit they had sold maybe 15 years before. He still gave me the time and was genuinely interested in what I was doing. A truly "proper bloke"
