40 years ago this month my buddy Mike bought the farm on his brand new bike. He was a leader in our crew and we still miss the guy, all the stuff he missed out on over the years, what a shame.
It wasn't like he didn't know how to ride, he did, the problem was riding with no helmet and copping a buzz, we all did back then and we all screwed up, a few paid the ultimate price.

Sorry for your loss Jack.

I bet Mike never figured on being remembered on a thing called "the internet". But now his memory lives on with people he never met.

So young. Very sad to hear about, even 40 years later. He lives in your fond and loving memories Jack. Those will never die. May your buddy Mike rest in peace.

About 30 years ago I bought my first KZ900 from a racer at the local drag strip (now called Summit Raceway Park). A few months later I found a KZ1000 that was for sale in Cleveland in non-running condition. A buddy of mine since early grade school had an XS650 that I kept running for him and said he’d like to have the big KZ, but didn’t have the money at the time. I said no problem - I’d buy it, get it running and then he could buy it from me for what I paid when he had the money. He was killed in a car accident about a week after I got it running.

Both bikes in this story are still in my garage. Just changed the oil in Chip’s bike today. It’s the one in my profile pic.

Thanks guys, We had a lot of laughs back then, some of the stories, most of which I can't tell here, but one of them that I can was the time Mike though it would be a good idea to use a vacuum to start the siphon for getting gas out of his car, so he goes in and grabs his roommates eletrolux , hooks it up to the hose coming out of his tank and flips the switch,
I wasn't there but I heard that the motor blew out of the back of the vacuum and shot over a hundred feet across the street and hit a building., good times...

I'm sorry to hear about your bother, That's terrible I'm sure you still really miss him
