There's more info but it's probably best to read about it here. A member of Ivar's 400 forum, Faffi, just posted about Ivar's condition.
www.armbell.com/kz400/viewtopic.php?t=5977&mforum=kz400
I just realized that you have to login over there to see the thread so here's Faffi's post:
I have just come off the phone with his wife, and I have agreed to keep you updated. We also agreed that she would notify me if there are some significant changes to Ibsen's condition instead of me calling ever so often to ask how he is - I think she has enough to worry about if not I should start calling regularly as well.
Ibsen (who's real name is Odd Ivar) has suffered a severe heart attack on December 19. It took place in his home, and his wife heard him fall. She called the ambulance service, and they were at the premises 10 minutes later. Ibsen, who remained unconscious from the moment he fell, also suffered a complete cardiac arrest just as the ambulance personnel stepped on the front steps. He was without heart beat for one minute before they could get his pump back into action. When they left for the hospital, he was breathing on his own and his heart was beating.
Ibsen was taken to our National hospital, where he stayed until Thursday a week and some ago when he was transferred to his local hospital. He has been kept in a respirator since December 19 and been continuously treated for his attack.
Then, yesterday disaster struck again when he suffered another massive heart attack. He was saved only by already being under treatment, but it was still touch-n-go for several hours.
Apart from the obvious damage done to his heart, his body is naturally also suffering badly from the complete inactivity it is to just lay still. In addition, there is a risk of him having suffered brain damage from the minute he was without oxygen to his brain. So far, they do not know the state of this since he hasn't spoken since December 19.
He does react to voices, though, and turns his head and look at those speaking to him, so hopefully this will get a happy ending. His wife promised to say hello from everybody on this forum, who has members from all continents as I explained to her. I also told her what an amazing forum he had created, a forum that really is unique on the WWW.
I am going to arrange for some flowers to be sent to the family home during the upcoming week, wishing Ibsen the best from all of us at what must be described as his forum.
He is in the best care at the hospital and they do what they can for him and if things turns out well he'll be back in good spirits on this forum before too long. But it will take weeks at best, I fear, before he gets well enough to log onto the WWW again.
There isn't much more we can do apart from thinking about him/praying for him, depending on each and one's personal preferences, wishing him all the best and a speedy recovery.
Eirik
My Prayers are with you Ivar.
