I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar. My wife has a 2019 Suzuki DR 650 for on and off road.

A friend of mine in Chilliwack bought a couple of early Z1's recently. The first one is S/N 01959. Seriously modified but still an early Z1. The second one is S/N 03967. It is a one owner original except for the rear tire and the chain. Only 3,500 miles.

Yes, great bike to start off with....not for me though as I would drive myself positively nuts trying to make it all original while keeping some patina.

What's been done to the modified Z?
Looks like some lesters, dual drilled discs, shocks, nice adjustable clubmans...
I LOVE period correct modified street bikes.

It looks like the frame is braced and painted silver as well. Check out the big dragon painted on the tank!

I'm firmly in the camp that that modified bike is FAR cooler than the stock one.

I saw the frame was painted, but didn't notice the bracing. Love the paint job on the tank.

Some things on the modified bike that you can't see...
- the cylinders are not original to the bike, nor is the head, nor gauges.
- the kick starter is missing, which makes me suspect the tranny is a close ratio.
- original bars are gone.
I really like the seat!
Rick...you would not be fussing too much to make it original. It already IS original, other than the chain and rear tire.

I really hopes he keeps the modified one as-is. If he isn't, and is returning it to original, I may be interested in the vintage speed parts

03967 looks like a good reference bike. The mod bike has endless possibilities.
