Seafoam vs. Lucas Engine Complete Treatment

So you guys know Im not some spammer, but a real dude who has talked to you all about bikes. Ive even made real-life friends here in this forum.

Im shocked.

I was told by everyone under the sun that Seafoam was the next best thing to buying a new engine. Ppl rave about it.

When I walked into Autozone last weekend, I asked for Seafoam and the service person directed me to it, but told me Lucas Engine Complete treatment is better and was on sale. What the heck...iI bought it.

I pulled my 72 CB750 out of the garage (to give my KZ750 and KZ650 a much needed rest), and poured the Lucas Engine Treatment into the TANK, not the crankcase.

All I can say is, MY GOD! This stuff is amazing. My bike PURS and the idle is much more steady.

Im have NO ties to Lucas at all, just passing on some good info. This stuff is amazing!!!

I'll have to give it a try. I like my chemicals. I used Sea Foam for a while, then came across Chevron's Techron, that seemed to me at least, to work better than Sea Foam.

For winterizing, I also moved away from Stabil after using it for years. I came across Starbrite's Star Tron, and again, from my experiences, works better that Stabil.

If the Lucas brew, doesn't perform up to snuff, I'll run the rest through my car. For ten bucks or so, it's worth a shot.

I guess it has been a while. This is one of the very few topics that will bring out as much heated discussion as what brand of oil to use.

I just take it apart and clean chit never use snake oils.

Marine Stabil will keep the varnish at bay. Great stuff. I go a little heavy on the dose and haven't found a downside.

Dumped some Techron into the tank of my kids car since it has been sitting while (he's away at school) and it threw some OBDII codes. Not sure if it helped but the car runs nice now (after I replaced the O2 sensors). Can't hurt but don't expect it to "fix" anything.

From what I've heard on other forums, Seafoam is bad for fuel-injected engines. I used to run it through the V8 on my old Pontiac and it did wonders, but have been warned NOT to use it on my new SUV. Instead, the Techron has been suggested repeatedly for the fuel-injection and as my truck approaches 150k miles I'm finding it makes more of a noticeable difference.

I still had Seafoam on the shelf though, so I dumped some in the tank on my bike. Considering the crap I had to clean out of the carbs I figured the seafoam would be great to help flush out anything I missed.

Hmm... I wonder what happens if you pour Pine-Sol directly in the tank?

To Seafoam
To Starbrite Star Tron.
Currently My friendly marine mechanic swears by Star tron and I Do believe it is a good product.
But will tomorrows new best of the best be ???????????
I just finished using my supply of seafoam , so star tron is my next purchase.
Or start using ethanol free gas at 5 bucks a gallon or more.

It seem to have made a difference to me. I added it to each fill up (4), the bike sounds smoother and tighter. After just the first 30 miles the idle came up a little. I thought it was the mix that was doing it but I just filled up the tank again without it and it still seems better. This time I ran it on reserve so I could fill it with fresh gas. I never believed in tune up in a can but the Sea Foam seemed to work on these old 33 Mik's.

That's my strategy too. I've always marvelled at how I'm the only one that finds these additives haven't done anything in any vehicle I've ever tried them in.

My usage is in my boat and small motors ( Lawn mower and snowblower. )
Bikes I drain 100 percent when not in use ( Storage )
Short term I just keep fresh fuel in the bike

Speaking of Marvel (last post) I have been using Marvels Mystery Oil In every engine I have had for 44 years! Lawnmower, snowblower, weed wackers. And my old Shovelhead with the original soft valve seats made for leaded fuel. And the Hemi AA/Gasser! Keeps blower lubed with the methanol fuel. Plus in my 2008 Ford F150 V-8 religiously Truck only has 54,000 miles. Run your finger in across the tail pipe, and your finger stays clean. Got good burn going. No soot or carbon! Is it the LUCAS? I don't know, and don't care. I'll keep using it in the fuel! I get a gallon for $25.99 wholesale price
