Perfect piece of logic for this instance and moving forward.

Just pulled out the owners manual from this bike. It is labeled KZ750GP. Does this suggest it is not a US model?

Nope...all the 1982 KZ750R1 US manuals are labeled with KZ750GP on the cover.

I was digging through a box of stuff as I start to get turned around to put this one back on the road. I've got a box top with p/n 23-9010 that says "Intake performance kit Kawasaki KZ750 GPZ 1982-83. I can't find the part(s) listed in Partzilla. It appears to be an OEM Kawasaki kit although I can't say for certain.
How would I go about finding out what was in this kit? I suspect the BS34's have been hosed with by adding this kit. Thoughts?

"Intake Performance Kit" might just be fancy for something as simple as an air filter.

Great looking bike !

Thanks JR. I snagged a nearly perfect stock seat for $120 delivered. It really ties it together. I tried to upload a pic to Imgur but it failed repeatedly so something is going on there.

The bike had pods on it and the PO was converting it back to the stock intake system. Makes me wonder if someone installed a dynojet style kit in an attempt to make it run well. Someone loved the bike, drove it a lot but took good care of it. Nicest set of header pipes I've seen on three of these and three more 85's. I'm very interested to see the compression on this one.

I scored a new seat for $120 delivered last week. Popped up on eBay as 'seat for unknown bike'. It's in super shape.

It is within a whisker of mint. At first I thought it was a scam, but the buyer had many good reviews. There was a similar one also on eBay that was priced at $449. A rare win for the good guys.

Life has been in the way but I'm back at it. I wet sanded the body components and shot them with SprayMax 2K which I posted in another thread. I got her running today for the first time in who know how many years. A little rough, but it has old spark plugs in it. It will smooth out out after a Gunson Colortune and syncing the carbs. I'm now chasing a high resistance connection in the turn signal circuit. The front two turn signal assemblies are new replicas. The rear two I've pulled off, disassembled shot them with Eastwood plastic reconditioner, then reinstalled. I hit those connections with Deoxit so I don't think they are the issue. I'll disassemble the switch and clean it up tomorrow.
