Great site, thanks for posting.
But now I'm confused. I could have sworn that I owned a '77 KZ650. Bought it new in either late '77 or early '78, I'm not sure now. What I am sure of, is that it was Candy Emerald Green.
According to the KZ650 site, the colors offered in '77 were Red or Blue, but not Green. Can someone help me out on this, did Kaw make a Green 650 in '77?

Well mines repainted of course No, I don't think so. The site is wrong on their colors for 1977. No blue on the 1977B1. 1977 was bright red just like the 1976 KZ900LTD and faded the same way, or green like mine.
Thanks. I just wanted to make sure my memory wasn't fading like those red '77s.

Blue first came on the 650 B only in 1978. It was a nice dark blue with a gold and light blue pinstripe. In '79 the blue changed a little and the bike came with a red accent pin stripe. The '78 Custom model came with the Star Dust Silver which was a little more blue than the '77's lighter, Moon Dust Silver which looked like it had a white base coat under the metallic silver.

I rode my green 650 from WA to MI back in '78. Stored it at my partent's house while I did my hitch for Uncle Sam. I'd intended to take it out of storage after my 4-year stint, but I was a poor airman, and I asked my dad to sell it for me.
Whenever I see a green 650 in the midwest, especially Michigan, I always wonder....
