Many failed attempts though.
I will apply clear, yes, just waiting for the turpentine in the Humbrol #19 Gloss Red to fully evaporate, as the "flooded" area is about 1/16 " thick.
Not sure what effect turpentine will have on 2K clear coat.
This afternoon I attemted using "gold-leaf".
Every effort failed.
It is just too delicate.(for my un-skilled efforts anyway)
At one point I sneezed... and poof, a 4 inch square of leaf turned into glitter all over my table! I probably inhaled some too. Doh!
By now, I'm sure I've spent more than the Ebay price of a repro badge anyway...
But hey, you can't put a price on education, and, having a whole lot of fun getting it.
Anyone need some Gold leaf?
I still have 18 sheets of a 25 sheet packet!
PS. I have a full pack of Silver too

Those 3D printed badges look fantastic - impressive work.
The bike is looking great already, can't wait to see the final result!

Yeah, (im)patiently waiting arrival of parts. Shipping times have more than doubled, as have costs! Strange new world.
I managed to find a decent replica seat cover and original air-box mounting brackets in the UK, and, as luck would have it, a visiting family member will be bringing them in a weeks time, for free!
Today I took the 550 on 120 mile round-trip to pick up the Lawson Replica, (replica!) fairing and screen I ordered early in January. Turns out they were ready for collection 7 days after I ordered, but the notification email went straight to my junk-mail folder... doh!
Anyhow, I really enjoyed the ride, up to 100 miles an hour at times! The little machine performed with such enthusiasm.
"Pussy-cat" is her new nick-name.
I'm totally satisfied with the workmanship of the glass-fibre lay-up. Some minor shaping / finishing /sanding still to be done before primer and a fresh coat of green...
Kawasaki call the color "nine parts yellow, one part blue", although, when I asked for it at my local paint supplier, all I got was a vacant stare...
...and the screen is a thing of beauty too, especially the edges, having been accurately bevelled and polished to suit the fairing. Top notch!
On my list right now is to model and make the mounting brackets. Also, going to have a go at 3D printing the rubber "strip" that fits between the fairing and the screen... not available, for love or money, anywhere.

...now I have the 'picture on the puzzle box' so to speak!
I would really appreciate measurements of your KerKer. (Length and diameters of each of the two 'cones'
I have modeled one in CAD, using assumed dimensions from a couple of internet photo's.
Today I had good success designing and 3D printing the rubber insert that goes between the fairing and screen.
I'm using a material called TPU, which is flexible, 'sort of', but not nearly as much as rubber.
Not knowing how the printed part would form around the edge of the fairing, I decided to begin by printing a 'straight' section, to test...
Turns out that a 'straight' section cannot 'buckle and bend' sufficiently.
The final shape is a combination of complex 'curves and straights', forming an 'L', that in no way resembles the fairing shape, but, as a result of the 'twisting' edge,
it 'buckles' to produce a pretty good fit.
Note that the part must have one 'flat' face that needs be on the face of the printers build plate.
It was only necessary to figure out one half, in this case, the right hand half, as my printer can only fit half on it's build plate. It is however a simple process to produce a mirror image of the part for the left hand side.
5 iterations were required until I was happy with the final fit, and 'look'...
The left hand side is on the printer now...

Lets not let this myth get out of hand. The 1100R was a european bike (84-85) only.
Canada, and maybe other countries, got the 1100R too.
Another I've seen:
