I'm pouring a slab under my carport for sandblasting, painting and buffing. stuff I dont want to do in the garage/shop/house. I'm going to be catching up to you soon buddy only I'm not going for all oridional I'm putting a 76 900 motor in a 78 frame and make do with the parts I have in stock pile from my last 2 builds. Keep a cool tool dude! Nobody can default your attention to detail as it really shows, Every body knows a clean bike.

This will be very good, I like the color choice very much even though I have green -76. Lots of work that gives great results. Good luck :)

Zed1015... no disrespect but I was looking for options on OEM, or NOS cylinder studs. I wasn’t having any luck, and was just about to buy from APE, and for sh@#$ and grins I checked out Z-fever. They had OEM Studs that have been replated, zinc, for around $5.00 each... Couldn’t help slide in a few other goodies to justify shipping.

A quick history about this build. I had a complete bike when I started but never felt the engine was original. A found out the early Kz900’s had engines that didn’t have the oil volume cast into the upper case, near the fill. Bike build date 11/75. I was lucky enough to find one, but the head had broken fins. I want to keep the “original“ engine complete so I had to find another. That wasn’t easy to find one complete that wasn’t a million dollars. Task accomplished and I started to pull it apart. It was going to need new exhaust studs as a couple were bent and others had vise grip marking... I took my time soaked them, heated them, shocked them. Time to try removing. First two loosened right up. The others weren’t so cooperative. Gentle pressure counter clockwise and back, carefully watching the base of the stud for movement. I saw movement and thought I was good. But no, there was movement but not the entire stud. Three of them snapped off about 3/16” into the hole. What a dirty trick, here I thought the whole stud was twisting out but NO. Looks like a trip to the machine shop before the head goes out for cleaning.

So true, but I say the righty loosely turned righty into my wallet.

Still here. Waiting on more parts. A few came in. Z-Fever shipped the cylinder studs, NOS brake light switch, and meter bracket grommets.
