Now that is poetic justice.
The Russians now have to face  the German Buzzsaw for a second time in Ukraine  80 years later.
Best to Gazz and his  squad and family

He got not the famus "Wehrmacht" MG42 "Hitler Buzz Saw", (firing rate 1200-1500 rounds per minute), he got the later "Bundeswehr" MG3 with a lower firing rate of 900 rounds per minute.

All he needs is a steady targeting, good aiming (forcing pushing the MG3 forward into the bipod against the recoil), semi auto fire and mile long belts of bullets to spread against the enemy.

Actually it's MG 42/59, Itallian made (Beretta factory) version of MG3. Remake of legendary MG 42 with fire rate of 800 shots made for Nato 7.62x51 amunition.  Came to me with spare barrel and tripod. Set came with no other parts or tools. So guys in Kyiv at the moment searching belt and ramrod. This machine gun  is god damn heavy, but I already like it. And anyway, it's all way better than first machine gun I was issued soon after arriving at our unit location. To my utter disbelive it was "new from crate" DPM ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Degtyaryov_machine_gun ) made in 1945. I was thinking that next we will receive horses instead of armour veicles.  However, I serviced both: gun and amunition "discs". They also have to be cleaned and their springs have to be adjusted for proper action.

DP is most inconvenient gun to use. However I shot it well at trainings and that opened way to MG 42/59.

Someone was shooting my MG before me and that silly bugger put gun back in box without cleaning. So it took me half of Saturday to clean it through and oil what has to be oiled. Now it' dully geaming as it should  be from the starter.

Another thing is tripod. It came in crate with markings that it's #1 tripod. It has being never used. So I spent whole Sunday removing preserving grease.

So one can say that machine gunner has no weekends:-))

As a gun guy that likes military weapons you have no idea of the envy I’m feeling. Knowing this was issued to fight for your survival completely erases that envy and it’s replaced with concern for your well-being. Good job on the maintenance. Gods speed to you and your comrades.
