Very nice write up . It looks like it would have been very easy for PMC to have offset the lever an additional 4 mm to avoid the unfortunate angle for the cable.

That settled then. One little thing remains  to figure out:  is there a legal method for 40 years old person  to foster a 57 years old one :laugh:

Thank you! I am wondering about lever offset too: it seems to me that other models of KZ-Zs from the PMC compatibility list will also have the same issue.

This post is not about the KZ650 project. However, there was discussion about cafe-racer on this forum some time ago, where I mentioned our  cafe-racer kits and how easy they could be installed and removed. Recently I shot a video about the kit. I was not in a hurry so it  took 5 minutes to install kit parts.

P.S. Feel free to laugh on my  speaking English.

Yea, I like those crash bars too. They (along with luggage rack) are products of  British company Renntec.  

Well, at last I could continue my work on KZ650. Soon I'll post some updates.  

My current task is preparing the engine for assembling. Among other things I had to install all new seals in covers and new oil level sight glass in the new clutch cover. I prepared to have some kind of silly struggle during its installation. Especially, if to take into account that I have an early type of clutch cover with a through hole for oil level glass.



Sure, I bought the correct type of  sight glass, OEM.



I oiled sight glass rubber and to my amazement it just popped into the cover under my fingers. Such easiness makes me nervous and makes me think about using sealant. Big Zs clutch covers  have the same design of oil level sight hole and exactly same part number for sight glass. Does anyone have experience of KZ sight glass replacement? Should sight glass slide in clutch cover THAT easy?

The Internet connection in my workshop is a mobile connection and it's pretty crappy at times.  So the answer for the question about oil level sight glass would be much appreciated if I got it.

Since I've got none, when I returned home at midnight, I did some searching, including  finding and reading topics on this very forum dated by the years 2018, 2016 and 2015. Well, it is hard to sort cases with different designs of sight glass and clutch cover, but it seems pretty normal that an early type of glass could be pressed in the clutch cover with thumbs.

 

Hi Gazzz, I just put that exact sight glass in my sons 650, I cleaned all surfaces and used a tiny amount of black sealant around it and just pushed it in, no leaks after a couple of thousand K's
