1977 kz650 cafe racer build

hello to everyone, im new to the motorcycle scene. so me and couple of my buddies have been putting together a 1977 kz650 that was in pieces and i am a little lost,, We are close to finishing but noticed the rear tire can be moved side to side.. There is a bushing or some sort of spacer missing on swingarm, but since bike was in pieces we have no idea what part/s go between frame and swingarm so it doesnt move side to side...Any help to find parts, or pictures would be great help!!Thank You!!

Do you mean the rear wheel only or the swingarm is moving side by side?

Please be more specific regarding the model you are working on.

The 1977 KZ650-B1 came with wire wheels, a single front disk brake, and a rear drum brake. The 1977 KZ650-C1 came with cast wheels, dual front disk brakes, and a rear disk brake. The two different models used different spacers in the rear. Ed

Got a factory service manual? Or check a parts site to see if you have all the parts assembled in order?

Here are some pics of my bike, tried to get close ups of where swing arm has play. I have a bike manual that I will check again but the manual isn't the best at explaining how parts go together..

You mentioned the bike is a 1977 KZ650. If that is true, I believe someone has done quite a bit of parts-changing on it because I see things on it that didn't come on a 1977 model.

Take a look at the steering neck. On it you will find a serial number. Look that number up in the table in the link below to positively identify the year of the bike. The year matters a lot because there were some major changes from one year to the next. Ed
