GPz1100B1 - UK Project was created by Shakeydrummer
Greetings all. Quick intro: I live in UK and have made a late return to the Kawasaki fold with a restoration of a very sad looking GPz1100 from 1981. (Previously have owned and enjoyed a GPz550, Z750 and GPZ900R). This 1100 has languished in a bike shop's container for the past decade and a half before I got my hands on it. It went in as a runner apparently but has come out with (at least) the AFM, reg/rec and fusebox missing, so I am working 'blind' until I can get hold of a manual (on order). I will try and post up a pic of it below.
A quick and easy question for someone who knows the model: where is the reg/rec located? I haven't yet found a tell-tale 6-pin connector anywhere. Thanks.

Wow! Youve got your work cut out for you there. No idea about the GPZ but on my CSR the reg/rec and the ignitor unit are mounted on the underside of the bat-box. Good luck.

Thanks Davido I'm not too fazed by the general resto/rebuild stuff. I am just a bit nervous about the whole FI business: not something I have delved into before. Plus the '81 era system does not have a good reputation. My plan is to try and get the engine running (I have managed to jump the starter motor and it turns the engine so that's a good start) to be able to check out the ECU and FI but for that I need to have a replacement AFM and the reg/rec. You can see the hole where the AFM should go on the third pic in my original post...

Welcome aboard.
I have a PDF version of the 1981-83 manual with the GPz supplement that I could send via email if you like. I will be occupied for the next ten hours or so, but can send it afterward .

TexasKZ answered your question but I noted your motorcycle has correct period aftermarket shocks (Marzocchi Strada 4). If you choose to retain those, rebuild kits are still available through a vendor located in the UK.

Thanks Mcdroid, I'll look them up.

And Davido - have tried to register on the Z1OC forum but it doesn't seem to like my email address. Will try again later.

TexasKZ - I would be very interested in that pdf file
