Fuel Tank and Pet Cock Problems

The Tank Kreem has decided it didn't want to stay attached to the sides of the tank and all settle along the bottom and into the petcock. The tank cam to me this way some 30 years ago so I cant take responsibility for the condition. Anyway now that my conscious is clear, How do i remove the gas impregnated silly puddy from the tank. More important is how do i replace the filter on the petcock that is in the reserve circuit of the valve. the little 1/4' x 1" filter is completely filled with the silly puddy looking Kreem.

I'd give your petcock a blast with an air compressor - 100psi down the lines should clear it up nicely

Takes a lot of time but the prep is most important.Once you get that done. You can use a sealer.I've used por15 and had good
results. There are a lot of other brands out there .Hope this helps Here's the link to the por 15 site. If you can find a tank in good shape clean inside no dents it might come out cheaper and a lot less work than cleaning your's out and re sealing it.

With all due respect the screws would get sucked up in the soft puddy like gas impregnated goo. the tank has been sitting over night and some of the primordial goo has oozed out of the petcock bung. Brake clean wont cut it either.

Again I don't think you understand what I'm up against. The kreem has turned into a gooey puddy like substance that oozes out of the tank after it sat over night with the petcock removed. As for the petcock I pulled it apart and cleaned the best i could that's when i noticed the short filter on the reserve circuit was completely filled with the kreem puddy. I squeezed the filter and the kreem slowly oozed out but in the process I damaged the filter. Is it replaceable?

How about the filter on the petcock. I've been surfing and haven't had any luck finding one or any of the seals...
