As the weather has been foul I've not had a chance to do much work on the bike, I took a up a new hobby over the nasty winter which has some skills which will come in useful. Nerf Blaster Modding.

It kept me busy painting and rewiring over the cold wet nights. Good skills to learn for this project I think.
For some time now I've wanted to do a complete rewire so finally I said sod it and got started. First off I wanted to do it properly and easily so my first purchase was a Motogadget M-Unit
It's an amazing bit of kit, it makes life much easier for the rewire. To go with it I've order lots more kit that is arriving shortly I hope. In the mean time I started removing the old crap wiring.
The bike looks much cleaner with out all that rubbish hehe
When the rest of the kit arrives I can start planning the next phase. Here's some of my shopping list:
Dyna S complete coils/ignition kit
Motogadget M-Unit
Motogadget M-Lock
Shorai Lithium Battery
New Spark plugs
Loads of wiring bits.
Uni Clamp On Air filters
Starter Relay

I really hope so! Basically there are only a couple of bits of electrics left on the bike after all that kit goes it.

Yeah I did consider it, but in the end decided against it. The main reasons for this were cost and the fact with just 5 switches I only need 6 cables in total back to the main loom. Also I wasn't sure where I could fit it without a ton of work and planning. 6 more wires isn't going to make any difference to the loom work as there are already a load for the headlights/horn/indicators/brake switch/coils etc.
I may regret the decision when I'm wiring everything up tho !

Also whilst I remember, did you put a fuse between the m-unit and the battery as they suggest in the manual?
I went for one like this in the end as there aren't many choices for thick wire fuses
On some installs people have put a fuse in, on others they have not.

On some installs people have put a fuse in, on others they have not.
No I put in a breaker switch that powers both the M-Unit and my mosfet R/R. I don't like carrying fuses, it's part of the reason I went with the M-Unit.

Interesting, do you have any more details on that, so I can see whether I can source one. As the fuse system isn't ideal and I would prefer not to have to worry about carrying a spare fuse.

Thanks a lot. Interestingly they only seem to being sold in the US or Oz. Not found a uk supplier yet. I've ordered a blade style one instead to see if that would be better than my current setup.
The Shorai battery has turned up and blooming hell it's tiny. Weighs next to nothing too. I've spent some time today planning on where to put things, still not 100% on everything yet. Current plan is to make a battery tray and fix it to the crossmember that the rear shock hangs off. Then have the motogadget vertically mounted on one side of the frame. I think that would work best but I need to try it out and see.
