Hey so I got ahold of the seller and supposedly he will have a set of bowls going up for sale next Friday. I hope he understands the exact bowls I am looking for as I explained they were 28 pumpers, but we'll see. I may just have the center two plated locally.

So thought I would post up a couple of quickies..... Been like Christmas over the last week or so. Still waiting on Buchanan's to deliver the hoops and a pair of GPZ camshafts to arrive.

Threw the carbs on to check clearance and that looks good along with measuring belt length.

So I have been planning and drawing up my custom cush drive. CAD can only go so far, I like to model somethings and get an idea of how everything is going to layout and go together. In addition, the dimensions of my cush drive will be critical to my chain alignment. So....

and I got this....

Think I may just leave it in foam board....that should hold up right?!? lol Once my sprocket gets here I can make up the other half of the drive.

Look what showed up on Friday... (really was a GOOD Friday...)

Rear is 17 x 5.5" and the front is 17 x 3.5" After seeing them in person, I think I may just do the hubs in gold PC and leave these in the clear anodize. The pictures don't do them justice. Figure the slight polished look may go nicely with the rest of the polished aluminum on the bike and the silver stripe that will be in the paint. I also should have my hubs not ready to go and can have them laced and trued. Sill have to get my cush drive and rear brake disc adapter plate finalized and machined.

Thanks Leon! Getting excited that these are starting to come together. Just need to get this whole cush drive done and the brake adapter disc. I am going to have to have these made at a machine shop as I don't have a rotary vise for my mill. I also don't think my lathe chuck will accept 7.5" stock.

The lathe I have access to has a swing of greater than I need, but the jaws probable won't open to allow for 7.5" round stock. We'll see how much the machine shop estimate comes back with....

I don't know how a person makes supper without a machine shop in their garage!
I've used my mill and lathe as much as a circular saw during our latest remodel!
Oh, bty, THEM WHEELS BE KILLER!
Now I know I have to do a set, got the rear already in an 4"X18" and a front in 2.5"X18" but not matching.

Les,

With your mad skills and machines at your beck and call, you could just make hubs from scratch....! What do you mean the hoops don't match?

Call me crazy, most people do anyway! :woohoo:
But I was looking at your upgraded charging system and it suddenly clicked into my head, why couldn't you make a pulley to run off the output sprocket?
Guys have been running alternators for years off the 3rd members of street rods,So why couldn't an evil sprocket building genius like Leon create something like that?
And yes I remembered my meds today! :woohoo: :woohoo:
