81 GPZ 1100 efi fuel tank ???? was created by busy1
I have an 81 GPZ 1100 efi project that someone has converted to carbs. The tank is pretty beat. I am going to a swap meet this weekend looking for a tank and am wondering what has to be done to the efi tanks to make them work with carbs? Is there a tank that will just replace it with no mods?
Thanks

To convert your existing tank to use with carbs, you must move the petcock about 100mm (give or take) towards the front of the tank. You must also cap off the pressure relief valve opening.
OR...find a 1982 GPz1100 tank and merely cap off the pressure relief valve opening.
OR...find a 1982/1983 KZ1000 ELR tank.
Good luck on finding tanks...they are all becoming very very scarce.

On my 81 gpz i cut all the stuff off the bottom of the tank and moved my petcock rearward by about 2 inches.I used a hole saw over the threaded part of tank and then had a friend tig all holes and petcock.for venting I put a theaded hole in the top in front of cap and vented with a hose. same as the s1 model.I use a dual feed pingel with 34mm mikuni flatslides. works pretty good.if yours is a 81 you will need to plug the injector holes on intake ports or get a new head.
