MkII instrument pods on ST? was created by fxdl2051
I swore to myself I'd keep it stock, I lied. Anyone know if the instrument cluster off a KZ1000 MkII will fit a KZ 1000 ST? I think they look way better, especially with chrome end caps on the instrument pods. Just wondering if this is easily doable?
Thanks all,
Ken

Its been a few years since I had a shaft but I dont think the gauge bracket is the same. THe MKII has a common KZ style gauge bracket and the shaft is unique to itself I believe. You cant just change out the top triple tree either becasue the shaft has 40mm forks and the MKII 36mm and I believe the offset is different also.

It's a no can do, even the E1 and E2 are different just a bit for the added dampers on the indicator box on the E2

If it is the bottoms he wants then it's still a no go...
from Z1 - "Fits Kawasaki Early KZ650 (77-80), KZ750 (76-79), KZ900/Z1/KZ1000 (73-80), Does NOT fit KZ1000-E (shaft) models with flat-bottomed meters."
Tops can be covered to get the chrome look though.

Bummer, I really like the look of the MKII instrument cluster, but I guess some add on chrome dress rings will have to do.
I was hopping someone had found a work around or had made a bracket that would work for the setup.
Thanks all,
Ken
