kz 900/1000 cafe racer!!! was created by Goalieguy35
Bought a 1980 kz1000 in pretty rough condition from a guy in mass. Bought it non running. He said it sat ina machine shop for years which was true. Heres a pic of what it looked like when i first saw it.
Pipes were rusty, tank was dented, front tire was off the wheel.. etccc it was in real rought shape.
Come to find out the motor had a pulled valve guide in cylinder 3 :pinch: so i had to pull motor. but before i pulled motor i cleaned carbs and took all apart
Luckly i had a 900 motor spare :woohoo: so i was not worried so i pulled the old one out
Finally with a little help from memeber Kz10006 for good deal on flywheel parts and cases. I put my 76 kz 900 motor in instead of the 1000. thanks alot brian for parts! Heres a pic of it finally running with a tractor tank on it haha But she runs though! after a motor swap and lots of hours into it.
I still have to get new rubber for her, new chain and sprockets, and re do the tank! She will be a beauty when im done though!!!
Let me know what you guys think!
more progress to come!
Hello guys! Sorry for not having much activity the past few months been busy during winter with everything! but got back at it today! and working on my fiberglass cafe racer seat!!! Let me know what you guys think!!
Bought about 25 dollars worth of moldable foam and 2 cans of adhesive!!
Cleaned and stripped the back part of the frame for construction!!
Cut and reworked piece of foam for base for the green moldable bricks!
I was playing around with cardboard templets to see what kind of design i wanted for the hump style
The base foam kind of broke when playing with it on the frame haha so i used cardboard and extra foam role from working with pools over the summer! i knew i kept it for a reason ahahh!!
I used cardboard and used the spray adhesive to attach the pool foam to the cardboard.
Here the role haha
Layed the bricks on the cardboard to get an idea of the hump i wanted
I put 2 cans of larg bolts to hold the bricks down to adhear to the foam!
Will shape the mold soon!!! more progress to come! feel free to ask any questions!
