81 kz 1100 A1 Project was created by fuhr9455
Just picked up this bike last week its a kz 1100 A1 with full vetter fairings. I haven't been able to find much 1100s so I really don't know much about them or why they seem so unpopular. So far I'm planning to make it a naked bike, swapping over to a non step up seat and maybe clubman bars. Let me know what you think.

I like it! How about converting to a nice gpz1100 clone?

welcome...those were just an in between run(short model) and were never unpopular...in fact the bike you have has some cool engine things that some folks desire if my memory serves me right..as far as chopping it up...man i would love to have it just like it is...wax and polish and cleaning would do that bike a good turn...you may know this but i think some things about that bike will be hard to change with out going free style...the seat may need a local upholstery person to make it different as there will not be another kawaski seat out there from any other model that will swap...i could be wrong...but check before chewing anything up...other will know more....
i would ride it to work everyday just like it is...i dig it...radio?????

trianglelaguna what cool features does this engine have? I haven't been able to find seat covers for the touring seat so far, only for the flatter version so i assumed the flatter version to be more popular but i guess i assumed wrong on that one. I'm not planning any chopping more along the lines of bag removal and cleaning things up for the time being. Someone removed all the speakers in fairing unfortunately so I'm going to have to find some and fix the butchered wiring in it before I can listen to the radio.

Really nice project, my bike is naked at the moment, Z1100 A3. Nice to see another shaft on here. Look forward to seeing the pictures. I am just in need of a battery, some fresh rubber and balance carbs in order to hit the road
Will try and post up some pics at some point. Unfortunately, I have changed the original paintwork as it was damaged. So, not original, but looks ok.

Considered doing a cafe project as well at some stage, but I just can't because of the sheer weight of the bike. Would defo like to get hold of a KZ200 again then the third one would have to be a cafe racer, ideally Z but only one with the twin carb
