Okay back story, This bike was advertized to be a 1980 G1 Classic but after doing a bit of research I began to suspect that it was not. Upon asking if it was actually electronically fuel injected the seller said it was not. Once I got the title things got a little clearer it's a 1981 KZ1000M CSR. Right? (spokes & back end) Bike has a newly painted tank but no side covers.
Anyhow here be pics:
(sorry)taken with camera phone in bad lighting first night after I picked it up.
pretty blue...
no air box
someones not very observant
I asked a friend about this and he said is was not something to be terribly worried about as the chain material was allot harder than the stand material.
Also he said "100 pieces of metal > 1 piece of metal" Not sure if I agree
Took of the cut pipes and drained oil
Thanks for the warm Welcome.

Any particular reason for using the side stand while changing oil and filer instead of the center stand?
For safety reasons, it's important to assure that the un-deployed center stand has foolproof fail-safe "stop" to rest against and prevent it from contacting the drive chain.
Many stock exhaust systems include such stop.
If in doubt about possible contact with drive chain, would remove the center stand, and keep it on the shelf for use only during maintenance and repairs.
Good Fortune!
