Updated. As of 1/16/12 this is where I am at

Engine removed, soon to be down to bare frame

Plans:

-Rebuild Engine + Fresh Black Paint on Block & Heads. Polished side covers
-Full frame resto. Lots of grinding, smoothing and fresh paint (color not decided yet)
-Assembly with a box full of new parts and aftermarket (lights, bars, rear sets, new seat/tail
-New Tires (new paint on wheels to come)

Found some rust underneath the point cover

Engine out

Thanks. The bike wasn't my first choice of a bike build. But it was free from my father in-law. This is my first motorcycle build and have some pretty simple plans for it. Just a killer looking commuter and weekend toy.

Removed the head, checked everything out. Cleaned it up. Still need some cleaning and removal of other engine items. Once the engine is re-sealed up, cleaned. It will be ready for paint. Then it's on to the frame.

After I installed some new lights in the garage...it's bright!!

Got the head off, started to clean it up. My amount of organization takes up a lot of time....each drawer of my box has bike parts in it all labeled and neatly tucked away.

Anywho...All the pictures I took

Nasty valves. Soon to be all cleaned up...Maybe some porting....:yuno:

Pulled the side covers and cleaned the matting surfaces. Stuck them back on in the mean time. Still need to remove the lower pan, pull the clutch, deep clean the block for paint....yum

From the kitchen into the garage....you are blinded. I was in there for 5 hours, walked inside and my eyes hurt. Thought all the lights were off....but they were on
