1981 KZ 1100 needs brought back to life

hi all, this is my first post here. i have been lurking for quite some time, and have already gained a lot of good information to help with getting the bike running again.

with the warmer weather moving in now, i am going to be able to start working on this bike. i picked it up in the middle of winter from a guy that was moving and he didn't want to take it with him. i have'nt heard it run yet. the previouse owner said it has sat for a couple years, but it did run when he parked it.

so my faith in mankind let me give up $400 and i hauled it home. i figure worse case senario, i can part it out and get most of my money back.

i am hoping that with my basic knowledge of motorcycles and the resources available here, along with the help from the forum members, that i might be able to get this girl back on the road.

hopefully a picture of it will show on this post so you can see what i will be working with.

looking forward to getting to know the members here, and any support that you may offer to help me along the way.

Unless the motor is completely fried, I would've coughed up US$400 for that bike also...looks good, so far!

looks to me like more than $400 worth of parts...

charged battery, some carb cleaner, and a wire brush would be all the tools you need to get that bastard running:) clean them carbs, install a new battery, flush the tank, and when everything is put back together, dump some gas in and give it a shot of starter fluid. good luck man.

i pulled the battery out of my other bike and got the 1100 to turn over. so it's not locked up anyways. the battery was low so it didn't turn over to long. the starter button would not operate the starter, so i had to jump the starter solenoid and got it to turn over that way. i hate electronics. it is my biggest downfall when it comes to bike repair.

looking at the condition of the wiring on this bike, i think i need to take all of the accessories off of it and go completely through all of the wiring.

i see a lot of wires that have no slack in them. they are pulled so tight to there connections that they are pulling away.

time to tear it apart !!!!
