leon you crashing sucks big donkey ones but thankfully your still around to laugh about it. wish i could help with the z1-r stuff but dude there just weird anyway. hey and you know what they say, chicks dig scar's.
haha, true on all accounts there sir!
i wrecked my first z1r(1978 model) when i was 15(i'll be fourty this dec.),got 23 stitches in my right eyebrow and some flesh removed that i never got back.
testa,
i just cleaned the paint off and wiped with acetone and used my tig welder and dind't stop until i had enough material to grind and sand back to stock shape.
so in other words i attacked it with a tig welder and filler wire and did not stop until i won, haha.
when welding cast aluminum it helps if you set your mind that you are going to do whatever it takes, because sometimes it fights back, been my experiance anyway.

Yeah, I hear that aluminum castings can throw you some curveballs. I need to get a tig welder so that I can do that fun stuff.

i think it has something to do with the different amounts of silica and other contaminents that cast has.
my buddy came by with some parts last night and had a matching foot peg for the z1r and one to match one of the other left side pegs i found.so that was cool i got the right peg for the z1r and between us we completed another set  .
we needed to pull the front end off to get the fairing bracket off so i can weld it back up.after we got the front of the bike blocked up and had the weight off of the front end i turned the frontend, and it was like it had a detent that made the front end want to stay straight.if you turned it either way it would snap back once you started turning it back straight and got it close to the center.my buddy was like "damn maybe you bent the stem".i was like "lets get the triple trees off and look at it".we found that the original ball bearings had put divots in the races when i wrecked and they were acting like detents.
so once we had the legs out and the return to center mystery figured out .i put the legs in some v-blocks and checked to make sure they were straight which they were, yay :silly: .
i have to tell you it is very hard to look at my bike without the frontend on,and see the zx12r frontend setting right next to it and the r1 front wheel up in the rafters.and not want to spend stupid money real fast to get the rest of the front end conversion parts and slap it all on there .
but alas money and time dictate that the stock frontend is going back on,and i will continue to gather the rest of the frontend conversion parts to install at a later date .
my buddy also came up with another front brake perch that has a brake switch but not the thick pivot point and the threads where the cable screws in is messed up.he also came up with another perch that i can cut the back of the clamp and the mirror mount boss off of,and repair my stock perch.it will also leave me the part where the cable screws in to cut off and repair the other perch(with the brake switch)for a possible spare.
so i was productive last night, and just shot off an order to www.z1enterprises.com/ for some new neck bearings and dust covers for my forks as well as some black superbike bars to get me by until i build another pair.
i have ordered a new fluorescent green wind screen from www.bikescreen.com/ and amd thinking i might go back with kawi green and gold pinstripes on the black in the stock z1r scheme.
my tattoo artist buddy is also an airbrush artist and had already offered to "go crazy on it"when it gets cold this winter,so i am not sure how the whole deal is going to turn out yet.
should be cool either way.
sorry bout the lack of pics but this one armed crap is getting old.

he!! i didn't want to be this guy, .

triangle, the only part i can't find is one of those damn front brake perches.
i went and seen the specialist yesterday.ha said that everything is looking good and to come back in three weeks for more x-rays and he will probably release me.
my wife asked me if i asked him about riding next weekend (sept.18)on my cousins memorial ride.i said "no i didn't ask him because it is not his decision".she kinda looked at me funny and shrugged.
my bike will be back together and i will be on the ride.
i may pi$$ myself if i hit a chughole, but hell it can't hurt worse than braking it,can it    .
i may have to hit you up sander as my fairing is ground through in some spots.
leon
p.s. my z1enterprise parts should show up wednesday, just in time to get it back together for the ride.

i think i may have some spare foot pegs if yours dont work out, i'll check my spares, but its not likely i have a brake perch.
