Holly crapola... Check this kid out will ya... B)
I just LUV this young mans enthusiasm... ;)

He comes onto the site, asks the right questions after researching his issues, listens to what the old seasoned guys have to offer in experience and knowledge, dives into it (head first, shallow area   ), follows what he was given and accomplishes his t-shoot/repairs to bring the old girl back to life...

Get's wood then jumps right into another project like a seasoned pro... Right on Tim, you go kid... B)

And don't forget, we old farts just love them images so keep em coming....:cheer:

Great to see a young person working so hard on somthing besides a video game. When I was a teenager we put a yz125 on a yard kart frame it was bad ass!, the dirt bike carbs will work for your project, years ago many racers on a tight budget ran 4 cr500 carbs on the old kz1000's and 900 dragbikes because lectrons cost so much.Anyway good luck and keep us posted.

I decided that i was just gonna make a frame from scratch but the only problem im having so far are the tire rod ends and the spindles and stuff. Not sure how to go about making that stuff. So i figured i would get all of the steering parts from a Craftsman riding lawnmower and call it good.

If you have a "Northern Tools" store near you they carry the front end pieces you need. They are like a Harbor Freight store with different cool stuff. They have all the parts for building a go cart from scratch. If a store is not close by get online and have then send you thier catalog. It is jam packed with all kinds of manly tools and parts. I have ordered from the catalog for years untill a store opened not to far from me.

I must also give you a thumbs up for your determination and dedication. Its nice to see dad and son working on projects together. Your dad must be a pretty cool dude. :) :)

I made a cart with a snowmobile motor in high school and it was pretty sick. We never put brakes on it though. I ditto the big brakes thing. It seems they are important for stopping. Who knew??

Any way we built our own frame too and the steering turned out really goofy. Later on we figured out its because we welded the arms that turn the spindles and are what the tie rods connect to, straight. As in at a 90 degree angle from the front axle center line. Turns out you have to take a string and go from the spindle to the center of the rear axle. Then weld the arm on at that angle. I think its calle the ackerman angle or some such thing. Anyway, learn from others mistakes. I'm sure you've done your research though.
