Custom '81 KZ1000 Project was created by amele7
Picked up a new project....Bike was previously re-built...guy I bought it from bought it as-is and bike stopped running one day and guy let it sit for the past two years....Cleaned carbs, found a wire on the coil that came off and bike started up and ran....now just need to change a few things that were half-ass like a harley 1"bar front master cylinder! shimmed to fit 7/8 bars.
Needs new rotor/flywheel- magnets are broken/missing
Front master cylinder
New chain/sprockets
right cam cover
mps kill switch w/cord
New Tires
powder coat a few parts
new paint
new seat- don't like current style
re-do tail w/new light/tag bracket under the tail
need turn signal switch/ new starter switch/throttle tube
Bike already has:
K&N pods
Sidewinder pipe
extended swingarm
ninja rear wheel w/190 tire
custom front wheel...Invader wheel? not sure

Anybody use a hayabusa front end on a kz? A buddy of mine has one I can use but not sure if it will work.

It can certainly be done, it's no different than any other front end swap

After a long season coaching football and the holidays, I finally made got some time to work on the KZ....Decided to swap the front end and bought an '05 636 front end and rear from a friend who was parting his bike out. Gotta get the stems mailed out to leon(513blackbanshee)so they can be swapped. Then offset front sprocket and rear wheel spacers made.

oooooh, I like the red anodizing on the fork tubes! Keeping the dual shocks makes things simpler as far as installing the bigger rubber in the rear. Keep it up!

the anodizing is gonna be history since I'm going with a new color scheme...although not sure which colors yet....Most everything is gonna get powder coated besides the plastic....left the dual shock setup primarily because of simplicity and struts would probably make the ride way to rough.

My bike had struts on it when I bought it and it only took 1 ride to convince me to put shocks on the back. It was in 2 words very painful at freeway speeds on expansion joints.
