79 KZ650 Chopper Build

Here is what we look like pre-build...UGLY!

I am going with the popular 810 bore mod. We have 750 jugs, heads and camming. We intend to go with a one off hardtail frame, drag bars, keeping the mid-controls and adding some highway pegs, find a good condition salvage tank, dual 2-into-1 pipes (built from the stock pipes).

Other things I am considering: suicide/jockey shift, bar end indicator lights, gearing (for top end or torque?).

Will post more photos as the build progresses.

Sounds like you have a good plan. Keep us updated with progress pics. BTW that seat has gotta go. It looks way too big for that bike.

Anyone have suggestions on gearing? This will mainly be a boulevard buster with the occasional trip into the foothill twisties here close to Denver.

If you just swap the seat and handlebars it will look great! Please dont chop her. This forum is for people who love KZ's. (no offense)

I normally hold my tongue on stuff like this, but you caught me on a bad day.

Its always funny to me when folks say "no offense." - Well the only reason that they say that is because they know that what preceded that caveat has the potential to cause offense.

So how about you do with your bike(s) as you please and I'll do with mine as I please...no offense.

Good question - I have no idea though. I just found it at at the salvage yard. In the photo it looks white, but it is actually a brushed aluminum look.
