Well I scored my new play toy today. It is an 81 GPz 1100 with 7300 original miles. From my momentary inspection it seems that the EFI is shot. Not a big deal as I planned on converting it to carbs anyway. The guy I bought it from has agreed to let me store it in his shop as long as I need to.

So here is my first ( in a long list I would imigine) question. As a former owner of a 78 KZ 1000 LTD I am assuming that my "new" ride will do at least as well as my 78 did. That being the case, it seems well stupid that the speedometer on my 81 only goes to 85mph. Is there another instrument cluster that I could swap onto my 81 to get a 140 or 160 mph speedo like my 78 had?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Three considerations: I think there is a place that converts your stocker to an 'appropriate' speedo...and an '82 might bolt right on...and why not look into some other years of GPz/Ninja gages, people wire 'em in all the time.

Uh...yyyyyyyeah...your GPz1100 is going to be able to do what your 1000LTD did.
