Rear-sets used... was created by racer54
Lots of you guys use rear-sets when you build your bikes. I've tried searching and looking up project bikes, but frankly, it's time consuming. What I'd like to know is what rear-sets are you using? Are there any that bolt onto the stock KZ foot-peg bolts or are you drilling new holes on the frame where needed or are you bolting them onto a plate you weld onto the frame? If off a modern sportbike, which model bike are you using them off of? Seems I remember someone used some off a ZX12 and one person welded some headnuts onto the frame to use as anchors for the rear-set bolts. Having to use a linkage to hook to the shift shaft, were you able to use what came with the rear-sets off the bike or did you have to fabricate a new link-age arm? Suppose that would work the same with the brake link-age also?

I used Tarozzi rear sets made specifically for the Kz on both my 1000 and my 900 project. I also used head nuts on my 900 to mount the passenger pegs brackets.

You truly only have a few choices...

As mentioned, sets designed for direct bolt on... Exceptionally good quality but expensive $400+...Ouch!

Or any used set where you fab a steel plate for direct bolt on and your set bolts onto the plate... <$100 for all.

Or you weld bolts/buts directly onto your frame...
I accomplished all for under $50 including the rear sets.

And yes, I have since corrected the reverse shifting mechanism....

Zippy... eeewww nice site... saved to KZ900 favorite folders! ;) B)

Since you quoted me... I stated direct bolt on, these sets seem to me anyways would still require some modification plates to fit on the KZ series.... Easy enough...

Either way, extremely nice pricing!
