Put my carbs on tonight and bike stated right up after compete rebuild, very relieved a so much can go wrong and it's my first rebuild.Had 1 float bowl leak ,tightened screws and problem solved.Had alot of smoke coming from motor but was just new paint heating up on the motor and exhaust but had me worried for bit.Need to do brake fluid and ready to roll except I had to scrape frost off my truck before heading home.

Got a carb bowl and clutch cover leak to deal with after the start up but I think that's pretty good considering all the parts that were apart .

Thanks for the positive replies ,I am proud of it and really hope it runs and rides like new .I am not sure what to expect from it as I bought it off a guy who had it in an unheated shed in Newfoundland for about 15years.It was running on 1 cylinder and fully dressed when I rode it home.I never started it after until it was all redone. The last kz I had was 25 years ago and it was a I believe an 80 kz650c with a 4 into 1 and I thought that ran and rode fantastic .Not really sure what to expect from this one .The bike is a 1979 canadian model kz1000st e1 shaft with wiseco 1075 ,dyna s ,accel coils ,mac 4 into 1 and 2 inti 2 k@n filters .

There's not a damn thing I don't luv about this build...

Ok wait a minute, the red rear shock springs don't match the color theme... :P

Seriously, beautiful!
If you put as much attention to detail as you have in how she looks, then no doubt she'll run sweet! Good job!

Thanks for the kind replies, the shocks were an experiment .My shocks were really rusty so I didn't want to use the same type of paint as I used on the frame because of a fear it would flake off when the spring flexed .While out looking for paint I came across some exterior flexable patio furniture paint and the only color that looked good to me was red ,thus red shocks.I had the mirrors done red but the wife and little girl wouldn't shutup about it so I painted them back to black ,thus the red centers on the mirror.Retightened the carb bowl bolts and the rest of the engine bolts and all leaks stopped.Bled the brakes without problems but ran out of fluid ,a few touchups and I hope to have some closer pics .This forum is great and I really appreciate all the info past and present. Here is a pic of the bike when I pulled the tank off.
