Did the finish turn out consistent across the whole piece? Cant really tell in the pic, but looks ok to me. Did you use chrome in a can?

it turned out some what consistant, i didnt prep it at all, i just sprayed it on to see what it would look like. It was the rustolium chrome in a can. When i get my frame sandblasted i will have him sand blast all the little frame bits, batter box, tool tray, upper and lower tripple tree clamps. I know it will look alot better when the surface is smooth.

Get that sand paper out and going get those scratches of of that cover and it should look like chrome before you start in with the mothers. I bought this stuff from harbor freight and some polish bars brown white green and black. I can tell you that it is so much nicer using a corded drill than battery powered drill plugging in your ipod and spending your hours after sanding using the drill. And then when you think it looks like chrome going back with polish. I use the flitz but I have used mothers. God what a way to spend your weekend.  :P
I sanded all of the casting marks off of my points housing and made that bad girl look like better than it did new. Blisters on my fingers for days and black fingernails. But it was well worth it.
Better yet bring those parts over to my house and spend the weekend and I will take the parts off of my 79 and we can be bored hanging out polishing all weekend. You saw how good I got those spoke on my rims in front? It took me weeks of after school drinking and sanding and then sanding some more. I polished them up and they looked good but when I compared it to the professional job on my valve cover I realized the surface has to be perfectly smooth to look really shiny. So all the work is really in the sanding back and forth from 800-2000 grit. And Cro Dog was telling me he used 4000 grit sand paper on his bike. The one I took the picture of that you could see the zx-14 and model on. Then once that has been done the polishing part is a breeze. If you don't do that sanding part just right it won't look nearly like chrome although it may look good it will go back to not so shiny later as the uneven surface gets filled in with dirt and road grime.;) I am no pro but I am learning quickly. It's a dirty job but then who will do it more meticulous than yourself right?
