This is similar to the K&L rebuild kit Y77 needle which is identical to the Kawasaki 4D93 needle which is the adjustable version of the stock needles. On the Y77 or 4D93 you want the 2nd or 3rd clip from the top (out of 5 positions). (2nd mimicks the fixed position of the stock needle exactly.)

Mixture screws are about 1.25 to 1.5 turns out.

That was just a rough setting, but it seems to be flawless. Starts easily (even without a battery). Full power past redline, no pops, no hiccups, and no dead spots. I may have gotten lucky on the setting.


Rough setting my arse! BTW - A4's run the same carb as the H1, H2: TK26V. Kinda what I thought you'd be running as I only see one throttle cable.

Oops, thanks. I knew the A models went to CV's in their last year. I thought it was the A5, but looks like A4 was the last standard. I'll edit my post so it won't throw anyone researching later.

The TK22 did come with two throttle cables, but I'm only running one.

That motor is an 82 or 83 H gpz motor, which is the same as the 81 D motor except for the head porting and intake port size. Luckily the carb spacing is exactly the same. All I had to do to fit the smaller carbs was cut the carb holders' mounting holes into slots. (The mounting bolts are spread wider apart). Then I just use big washers to hold on the bolts. The carb holder throats are smaller than the intake port, but there is still plenty of mating surface to seal.

I prefer the TK22's for their manual slides. It's so much easier to tune (to pods and pipe) without worrying about vacuum slides and punctured diaphragms (which are like $100 each now?). :)

That's why I got so excited about a potentially good setup with the CV carb. Looks like I need to get on board with the TK 22, can't hardly get parts for the TK26 now any way.

It still looks pretty much the same, except for this: I installed a singing maggot for Haloween. While I ride it sings, walks around, and lights up inside the cage.
