Thanks Bad Kaw, I have run without the fairing and I like the looks even the gauges still flow well without it.
Only problem is it looks to much like my old Radian with that big sqaure headlight.
Saki Jockey, thats exactly why I posted that pic of the carbs. I read about guys on the GPZ550 board having a terrible time with the stock carbs. Not a lot in the way of spare jets and such.
Hopefully Z1109R Fin is right. At some point I will print out the parts diagram and check things out and confirm it.
Update:
Got the new rear rotor and pads on and the breaks bleeded and it seems to be working good.
I also put on a slightly newer shock while I was back there. The old one was pretty tired.
The rear sprocket has some heavy wearing and needs to be replaced:( OMG, it's $80 new. I ebayed the sprockets for now.
I am going to eventually need to find an aftermarket alterenative for the chain as well. $250 from Thrify Rider. Those things are big.
Tail is fitting good. Just need to pick up some diodes for the intergated signal mod and the rear should be sorted.
I got the stickers off both side panels with help of a heat gun and did my first plastic weld. Both of which I read about here and tuned out great:woohoo:
I also got the exhaust off and wire wheeled the rust and painted. Praying to the MC gods I got enough rust off for at least a couple of months of looking good. Last time I only used steel wool and it was to pitted and the rust came back immidiatly:angry:
Sorry, to tired and dirty to snap pics this week.:S

Wow, you need ebay.
You should if you shop around on ebay find a new chain and sprockets for less than $200 plus shipping. Expand your search to include kz550 as the chain and sprockets are the same.

If you're planning on selling those carbs, let me know. Would be interesting to know why they installed them.
Looks like things are going great over on this board. Keep us all informed on the progress.

Good tip Saki Jockey, I found new sprockets and chain in the new search.
I went ahead and installed the ebay one which cleaned up pretty agood and looks to be stock. Seller says its off an 1500 mile bikeB)
Corey, I bet you want my carbs. Your the guy with five GPZ's. I should be asking you for parts;)
2 big chips filled with plastic welding on the fairing.

The exhaust is painted and has sat for a week and baked in the sun for two days.
I'll get it on and run it as soon as the front brakes and fork seals are done.
So many parts to clean and fix:blink:

I sanded and painted the rear peg holders. The silver looked so good I am holding off on adding a black coat.
My girl, said they looked newB)
