First bike for wife, new project for me was created by Breeze
I guess you could say it's been a good month so far for me. As with everyone else of late, i';ve aquired a couple new Kaws as well.
First one, the wife has had her lic. for a bit now and with no more surgury's for a while we finally got her,her FIRST bike. Seller was asking $850 for this jewel and after a little babble back and forth, we picked a 1982 Kz 440 Ltd . We ended up paying $600 for the bike. The wife spent her first 2 days with her new toy just cleaning it up. I think her efforts were well worth her time myself. So, her is her new ride:
As for my new project. One of the fellas i work with decided he'd had all he could and parted with his 1977 Kz 650. I picked it up for a mere $300. Poor thing needs tons of work but, everything is there so, what the heck. I'll need something to keep me from going stir crazy this winter. I haven't decided what direction i'll go with her however, I am leaning towards a street fighter/ boulivard bully. Really not sure at this time though. So, rather than ramble on here's my next project.

Great looking bike. I paid $600 for mine last year....and have been consistantly dribbling money into it since. Broken clutch cable, broken throttle cable, carb diaphrams, petcock diaphrams...:pinch:
But it runs great now!
Hope she has fun with it.

That is a sweet little 440 I'm sure your wife will really enjoy it they are great bikes for the ladies. One little tidbit I remember from back when these were new. Be sure to check that the air cleaner is mounted correctly. There was a TSB put out by Kaw about this. The air filter has to fit down into a little flange like area on the box that attaches to the carbs. The best way to check this is to lift up on the back of the air cleaner if it comes up the filter is on wrong and the bike will not perform like it is supposed to. It will only take you 2 minutes to check this.

Gringo, thanx for the tidbit. I'll check it soon.
Link, not oo much really wrong with the 440. I had to do a tune up and clean the carbs sumpin awfull. Right now, all i can see real soon is prolly going to be a new clutch. I've got this one adjusted to it's max so she can ride it. Next rainy weekend we have it will get new plates.
